Introducing the PhD themes of our young researchers - Katja Oselj

Palaeobiology of the Middle Triassic conodont species Pseudofurnishius murcianus

In her PhD thesis, Katja Oselj investigates how the morphology and functionality of the main element of the fossil conodont feeding apparatus and the diet of conodont species change in space and time Pseudofurnishius murcianus. The thesis focuses on identifying the morphological differences between the elements of this species and on finding links between these differences and palaeoecological parameters. In addition, it includes an interpretation of the function of this element or its role in the conodont apparatus and an analysis of possible changes in the diet of the conodont animal through the different ontogenetic phases.

The supervisor of the doctoral thesis is Dr Tea Kolar Jurkovšek.
