Pilot geothermal investment in Martjanci Kindergarten, August 2025
The Martjanci Kindergarten, built in 1975, is piloting the use of shallow geothermal energy as part of the international INTERREG project Danube GeoHeCo. The aim of the project is to accelerate the transition from fossil fuels to shallow geothermal energy by using modern hybrid heating and cooling systems. The Slovenian partners in the project are LEA Pomurje (Martjanci) and GeoZS, which provides expert support on the subsurface and system sizing of shallow geothermal. More information about the project and the pilot investment can be found at here.
