GeoZS joined the Day for the Savinja 2025 event again this year
On Thursday 23 May 2025, we took part in an event A day for the Savinja 2025, which has been organised for many years by the Slovenian Nature Conservation Institute, Regional Unit Celje. It was attended by around 220 primary school pupils, who learned about natural history through 15 different workshops.
Our workshop called Geological treasure: From mine to computer introduced students to the minerals in mobile phones, the importance of mining and its impact on the environment. We also touched on the Peca mine and its modern roles - from tourism to water supply, which we are exploring in the project WATERWISE.
Through knowledge and play, we introduced pupils to the importance of sustainable management of natural resources.
