PanAfGeo+ National AMREC/PARC–UNFC Workshop in Pretoria, May 12–13, 2026

The two-day event, held as part of the activities of the PanAfGeo+ African Expert Network, brought together representatives of government institutions, geological institutes, academia, industry, and international organizations from Africa and Europe. The purpose of the workshop in Pretoria (South Africa) was to deepen understanding and practical application of the UNFC, AMREC, and PARC systems and to strengthen dialogue on harmonized reporting and management of mineral resources. Participants engaged in discussions on policies, technical content, case studies, and practical exercises, with an emphasis on harmonized reporting on mineral resources, management approaches, and transparency, practical pathways for implementation, and support for the goals of the Africa Mining Vision and Agenda 2063. Two experts from GeoZS, Dr. Slavko Šolar and Dr. Snježana Miletić, also participated in the event as speakers, sharing European experiences and contributing to the exchange of knowledge between African and European institutions.
