Introducing Our Projects – GWQualityPath2070 (ARIS)
GWQualityPath2070 – The Impact of Climate Change, Land Use, and Agricultural Practices on the Occurrence and Fate of Pollutants in the Transboundary Sava Aquifer
Groundwater is one of the most important sources of drinking water, but agriculture, industry, and urbanization are increasingly polluting it with nitrates and new chemicals. The GWQualityPath2070 project, which brings together Slovenian and Croatian experts, focuses on the cross-border Sava aquifer (the Krško Plain and the Zagreb Plain), where we will use advanced analyses and computer modeling to study how pollutants travel and what impact climate change has. The goal is to provide a scientific basis for concrete measures and coordinated groundwater management on both sides of the border.
