On the occasion of this year's Earth Day, 22 April 2025, which was held under the motto Our Power, Our Planet, we organised together with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Spatial Planning and the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Engineering of the University of Ljubljana (NTF) an expert consultation on Geosphere. The geosphere is the foundation for the digital and green transition - but only if we manage our natural resources responsibly and thoughtfully.

»Priča smo vse večjemu pritisku različnih interesov na Zemljino podpovršje, od infrastrukturnih in energetskih projektov do možnosti skladiščenja pod površjem in ostalih posegov v prostor. Dostopnost do podatkov o geosferi pa je še posebej pomembna na področjih kot so trajnostno upravljanje z mineralnimi surovinami, 3D prostorsko načrtovanje, ocene potresne varnosti, ocene potenciala geotermalne energije in ravnanja s podzemnimi vodami,« je na začetku posveta ob včerajšnjem Dnevu Zemlje poudaril direktor GeoZS dr. Miloš Bavec in dodal, da: »Slovenija, v primerjavi z drugimi državami Evropske unije, žal nima urejenega sistemskega zbiranja geoloških podatkov, ki bi  morali biti javni in dostopni.«
