Sediment sampling from rivers and streams is a widely used technique worldwide to identify potential ore bodies. This method utilises the natural dispersion of elemental compounds from the vein beds into the surrounding rock, resulting in anomalies that are detectable in the sediment samples. By analysing these sediments, researchers can detect deposits of polymetallic sulphide ores as well as uranium (U) and thorium (Th) deposits. In Slovenia, 153 such deposits are identified. The aim of the project is to facilitate the coordinated efforts of several teams to carry out comprehensive geochemical investigations using standardised methods.
