Representatives of GeoZS participated in the 16th meeting of the Expert Group on Resource Management (EGRM-16) in Geneva. Dr. Meta Dobnikar presented the project GSEU – Geological Service for Europe - and its role in supporting the implementation of the United Nations Framework Classification (UNFC) under the EU Critical Raw Materials Regulation. The presentation took place in the framework of the seminar "United Nations Tools for Resource Management in the UNECE Region". Dr Slavko Šolar spoke about the UNFC and the strategic projects, stressing the importance of a structured approach to the classification of natural resources. In addition, Dr Slavko Šolar presented the UNFC and the strategic projects. In the session "Strengthening Global Resource Governance: the Role of International Centres of Excellence for Sustainable Resource Management", Dr. Meta Dobnikar presented the activities of the International Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Resource Management for Europe (ICE-SRM EU) and announced the event to mark its official launch on 21 May 2025 in Nova Gorica, as part of the cross-border programme of the European Capital of Culture Nova Gorica-Gorizia.
