We have produced a video showing our work in the underground of Peć as part of the European project WATERWISE, which aims at effective river basin management in the Alpine region. GeoZS researchers, together with the Austrian-Slovenian cross-border association of 14 municipalities EVTZ Geopark Karawanken m.b.H. in the Pec mountains, are studying water resources and how they will change after the extreme floods of 2023.

We are assessing the water balance and preparing data for a new water management tool. GeoZS analyses spring and groundwater properties such as temperature and flow to assess seasonal impacts and the effects of climate change. A positive water balance is crucial for local people and for the many ecosystems in the wetlands of the Pecs area.
