European International Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Resource Management in support of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals
The sustainable use of minerals, which are key to energy storage, power generation and the transition to a climate-neutral society, is of paramount importance. The United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) has set out the principles and requirements for sustainable resource management needed to achieve the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its goals. In support of this, the Horizon Europe GSEU project is establishing a Geological Service for Europe, of which the EU International Centre of Excellence on Sustainable Resource Management (EU ICE SRM) will be an integral part. This capacity and knowledge building centre will act as a network of partners and experts to support decision makers and key stakeholders in the management of natural resources.
