In October, we will celebrate International Geodiversity Day, which aims to raise awareness about geological, geomorphological, and hydrological diversity and its importance for society and sustainable development. This year’s theme Geological Diversity Right on Our Doorstep (Geodiversity Right on Our Doorstep) was selected based on a Slovenian proposal, which emphasizes that every place has its own geological history that influences the natural environment, the availability of resources, the development of settlements, and people’s way of life.

On International Geodiversity Day, various institutions and organizations across Slovenia, including GeoZS, will hold public events to raise awareness of the importance of geodiversity and geological natural heritage.

This year, the main event in Slovenia will take place on October 6 in the "IZ GLOBIN" Information and Interpretation Center at Negova Castle in Slovenske Gorice. In the preparation and execution of the traditional Geology Days GeoZS also operates under the auspices of the Slovenian Geological Society.
