Successful completion of the PanAfGeo+ geological mapping course in Uganda, February-March 2026

A one-month PanAfGeo+ A field course on geological mapping in volcanic areas, attended by 25 experts from 17 African countries, as well as lecturers from the Czech Geological Survey (CGS), Dr Matevž Novak from GeoZS and geologists from the Geological Survey of Uganda (GSDU).

The programme combined fieldwork in the area of Mbale, at the western foot of Mt. Elgon, Africa's largest volcano by surface area, and the use of GIS tools and remote sensing methods for qualitative data interpretation in the preparation of the final geological maps.
