The book Conodonts of Slovenia represents a fundamental scientific work in the field of palaeontology and biostratigraphy in the territory of Slovenia. The authors are the renowned researchers Assoc. Dr. Tea Kolar Jurkovšek, Scientific Advisor at GeoZS and one of the leading European researchers of conodonts, and Dr. Bogdan Jurkovšek, retired Scientific Advisor, palaeontologist and regional geologist. Both are authors of numerous scientific and professional works in the field of regional geology, biostratigraphy and palaeontology.

The monograph Conodonts of Slovenia comprises 260 pages and is supported by numerous graphic appendices and field photographs. An important part of the book are 44 tables with hundreds of conodont specimens. More than 200 works are cited in the literature selection, which provides a more detailed insight into the research on conodonts at home and abroad.

The book provides a comprehensive and critical overview of all previous conodont research in Slovenia. A large part of the book is devoted to the presentation of the author's own published and unpublished research results, among which the Permian-Triassic boundary on the territory of the Dinarides has been established for the first time according to internationally established criteria. An important supplement to The Conodonts of Slovenia are the numerous graphic appendices in which the authors geotectonically, palaeogeographically and lithostratigraphically identify all the studied conodont strata in the territory of Slovenia, which is an important aid to geologists in the relative dating of the ages of Palaeozoic and Triassic strata.

The authors conclude their work with a completely new and refined zonation of conodont assemblages defined in Slovenia, which represents an important contribution to modern research on conodonts in the world.

It is therefore an original work that will undoubtedly be consulted not only by palaeontologists but also by geologists from other branches of geology and by all those interested in life in the ancient and middle ages of the Earth, and it will also be a tool for students of geology in the teaching of palaeontology, regional geology and the biostratigraphy of the Palaeozoic and Triassic strata of Slovenia.

The book is written in Slovenian and English.
