Co-funded by the European Union, RAMP is a global partnership for enabling transnational research and innovation on raw materials.

RAMP’s funded projects and partnership-level activities will span value chains of various metals and minerals, industrial and battery materials, and construction materials, including materials deemed critical or strategic.

RAMP’s long-term vision is to contribute to securing a sustainable and resilient supply of raw materials, facilitating efficient design and production, and promoting socially and environmentally responsible use.

To achieve this vision, RAMP is pursuing the following strategic aims:

• Build a strong, international research and innovation ecosystem on raw materials

• Support the full value chain – from exploration to recycling

• Strengthen Europe’s strategic autonomy and industrial resilience

• Promote circular, sustainable and policy-relevant innovation

RAMP will align national/regional and European funding and work closely with academia, industry, policymakers, government agencies and NGOs to meet these aims.

RAMP will launch seven transnational calls and implement a range of additional (partnership-level) activities during the next decade. The calls and additional activities will be organized around six themes as described in the RAMP Strategic Research & Innovation Agenda (SRIA). The themes include three core themes focusing on raw materials supply, design and production, and use and reuse of products, and three crosscutting themes focusing on policy, sustainability, and skills development. RAMP strongly encourages interdisciplinarity and especially the integration of social sciences. It strives for a close link with other recent or ongoing national and international research and innovation activities.
