At this year’s EGU26 international conference on geosciences in Vienna, 12 researchers from GeoZS presented the results of their research. They presented achievements in the field of hydrogeology—ranging from monitoring organic pollutants and the impact of military activities on groundwater to the behavior of pollutants during extreme rainfall—as well as in geomorphology and landslides, where they addressed early landslide detection, landslide susceptibility maps, and the reconstruction of past events in the Julian Alps. They also presented topics in the fields of seismology and paleoseismology, including new insights into historical earthquakes along the Raška Fault, as well as soil mapping using artificial intelligence to assess risks in the Drava floodplain. They also touched on geothermal measurements, the transport of microplastics in soil, and educational approaches to teaching geology.
