DMT Summit X One equipment for seismic geophysical surveying

Description of equipment

The DMT Summit X One is an advanced modular set of field equipment for seismic surveys. It allows efficient field surveys to be carried out with a minimum of field logistics. The basis is the DMT Summit X One 'remote unit', which digitises the signal from each geophone and sends it to a data acquisition unit and on to a laptop, where data quality control and storage is performed. The maximum number of active channels in the current configuration is 72, while the normal number is 60, with 12 mobile units and operation in roll-along mode. Measurements are performed with 40 Hz geophones.

The GISCO ESS.100 accelerated weight and a macola with piezoelectric switch are available as seismic sources.

Technical data:

  • 72x DMT Summit X One remote unit;
  • 2x Summit X One data collection unit;
  • 1x Summit X One triggering unit;
  • 2x power lead;
  • 1x trigger lead with extension cable (250 m);
  • 3x DMT 330 m data cable;
  • 75x 40 Hz geophones (KCL-4 connector);
  • Summit X One field laptop with data recording and data quality control software;
  • seismic source: macola with piezoelectric switch.

Access to equipment of equipment

Dynamic Earth, Regional Geology, Mineral Resources and Groundwater and Geochemistry programme groups, various research and commercial projects.

The equipment is used for high-resolution reflection seismic and is useful for shallow structural-geological surveys using P-waves and depth ranges between 15 m and 300 m in:

  • structural geology, active tectonics (structure of Quaternary, Pliocquaternary, Neogene sediments, including faults and folds),
  • hydrogeology (structures of Quaternary and Pliocquaternary Mesozoic aquifers),
  • mineral resources (notably for silica sand extraction).

Equipment rental

The use of the DMT Summit X One equipment is intended for GeoZS researchers. By agreement, we also carry out seismic geophysical surveys for external clients. The price is determined by the GeoZS internal price list or by agreement
