We hosted the 6th meeting of the working group of communications professionals from scientific research and higher education institutions of the Slovenian Public Relations Society. GeoZS Director Dr. Miloš Bavec guided the group through the institute’s key milestones, while researcher Dr. Teja Čeru led a practical workshop From Stone to Painting provided an excellent example of knowledge transfer to the general public. During the main part of the meeting, Urša Šolc, head of the Public Relations and Publishing Unit at GeoZS, presented GeoZS’s communication strategy, which is based on transparency, integrity, and open science. We concluded the meeting with a discussion on the challenges posed by complex and socially sensitive topics, such as building trust in the scientific community, crisis communication regarding geological hazards, and engaging younger generations.
