Monitor GalleriesFaculty of Education University of Ljubljana 20 April until 24 May 2026 you can visit the exhibition The Microworld of the Karst: shapes and colours hidden in the rocks, prepared within the framework of the Interreg IT-SLO project Joint management and sustainable development of the Classical Karst area. The photographs on display take the viewer into the fascinating world of the various types of rocks from the Karst, as they appear under the microscope. The introductory panels present the microscopically small fossils, minerals and environments in which the rocks formed in the geological past.
The exhibition is the result of collaboration between Ingrid Urban, Nerea Preta and Bernardo Cesare from the University of Padua, Lorenzo Consorti (CNR-ISMAR Trieste) and Sara Bensi (Geological Survey of Friuli Venezia Giulia). Many of the photographed samples are from the collection of Bogdan Jurkovšek, held by GeoZS. The majority of the photographs were developed by Bernardo Cesare from the University of Padua, who has received several prizes for his microscope photography in international competitions.
