Gender Equality as a Foundation of Modern Research

The Gender Equality Action Plan of GeoZS is a strategic document through which the institution systematically addresses equal opportunities for all genders within the research environment. It is prepared by the Gender Equality Working Group and is based on an analysis of the broader social context, as well as the specific characteristics of GeoZS’s organisational structure, culture, and working practices.

The objectives of the Gender Equality Action Plan align with the institute’s strategic goals and focus on eliminating gender-biased practices and unconscious barriers that may hinder career development, particularly for women in science. The document is reviewed, updated, and adapted annually in response to current needs, and therefore represents a work in progress.

The Gender Equality Action Plan focuses on five key thematic areas:
• work–life balance,
• balanced gender representation in leadership positions,
• equal opportunities in recruitment and career advancement,
• the use of gender-inclusive language,
• prevention of harassment and violence, and awareness-raising on gender equality.

By implementing this plan, GeoZS actively contributes to creating an inclusive, fair, and supportive research environment.
