Evaluation of hybrid infrastructure to mitigate the effects of climate change

Content

The research project will focus on hybrid infrastructures that can be used to mitigate the effects of climate change. Such infrastructure is an alternative to the grey infrastructure that is common in countries such as Slovenia or the Czech Republic. Such measures are overshadowed in the literature by grey or green measures or infrastructure, which have often proven to be insufficiently effective in extreme events such as those predicted in climate change scenarios. In addition, the placement of green infrastructure to reduce disaster risks is spatially limited, meaning that in areas such as densely populated cities, green measures alone are not effective enough or are not suitable for placement in some countries, or often face different types of opposition when implemented. Floods, water erosion, landslides and combination of these events will be considered in the research project. This will allow us to identify measures that can be applied to different natural disasters.
