Content

The main objective of the project is to determine the geological, hydrogeological and temperature conditions in selected areas of military infrastructures and, based on these determinations, assess the geothermal potential or the potential for the use of geothermal energy for heating, cooling and thermal storage to ensure greater energy autonomy of military facilities. The assessment will include the potential for utilising high temperature (deep) and low temperature (shallow) geothermal energy sources. For each selected site, we will provide an assessment of the feasibility of the geothermal energy concept and a proposal for the method (technology) and conditions for the use of geothermal energy.

Project phases

  • DS1 - Identification of 30 research areas (military infrastructure sites)
  • DS2 - Collection of archive data
  • DS3 - Collection of field data
  • DS4 - Interpretation of geological, hydrogeological and geothermal conditions and constraints to the use of geothermal energy in the selected areas
  • DS5 - Assessment of the potential for geothermal energy use in selected areas
