New features in the Public Well Viewer of the Republic of Slovenia

The Mining Public Service of the Geological Survey of the Republic of Slovenia (GeoZS), in cooperation with the Mining Division of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Spatial Planning (MNVP), has uploaded the following information to the portal Well Viewer added data on 393 boreholes drilled between 1930 and 1990 for coal exploration in the Kanižarica coalfield. The exploratory boreholes of the now closed mine represent important information on the underground.
The Kanižarica lignite mine in Bela Krajina near Črnomelj was in operation from 1857 to 1997. The total area of the mining area to the east and south-east of Kanižarica was 5.85 km2. You can read more about the history of mining in Kanizarica and the geology of the coalfield Here.
As we continue our efforts to publish new boreholes on the Viewer, we invite all legal and natural persons who have information on boreholes to contact us at the following address vrtine@geo-zs.si.
