The book describes the adventures and experiences of geological expeditions to Eritrea, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Guyana and Mozambique, which were carried out by the then Geological Survey of Ljubljana in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. The book is written in a clear and user-friendly manner and focuses not only on professional geological information about the sites, but also provides descriptions of the countries, the organisation of fieldwork, logistics, the tasks of the field geologist, the experience of work, team relations and contacts with the local population. The book is therefore an interesting testimony to an important period in Slovenian geology.

The book is 366 pages long and contains 130 colour photographs and sketches.
