CONTENT:
There are tens of thousands of flooded and abandoned mines in the EU, many of which still contain minerals worth mining. Due to dangerous and costly re-entry into old and flooded mines, exploration by classical methods, which engages divers or remote operating machinery, is neither feasible nor safe. That is why project UNEXMIN developed an innovative technology, which will enable re-entry and exploration of abandon and flooded mines by using an autonomous submersible robot. The aim of project UNEXUP, which is a is a direct continuation of the Horizon 2020 UNEXMIN project, is to launch the UNEXMIN technology into the market, while further improving the system’s hardware, software and capabilities.
Project objectives:
- Upgrading UNEXMIN technology for Autonomous 3d mapping of flooded mines;
- Develop the second generation of autonomous robot UX-2 with improved capabilities and
- Commercialization and launching of innovative UNEXUP technology into the market.
