Content<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n The main aim of the PhD thesis is to determine the composition of ostracod groups in Sarmatian and Pannonian sediments in the Kozjansko area, Kr\u0161ko Basin and Prekmurje region. Ostracods are microscopic crustaceans that occur in a variety of environments, both aquatic and terrestrial. Ostracods are studied not only by biologists but also by geologists, as their fossils first appear in the late Cambrian era. Research on ostracods in these sediments is scarce and partly unpublished. Ostracod biozones are defined on the basis of specific taxon and compared with those of benthic foraminifera and nannoplankton. The salinity and relative depth of the sea at the time of sedimentation are determined, giving us information on the local variations in the sedimentation area resulting from the variability of the palaeo-coastline.
