Identification and characterisation of such active faults solely by means of structural geologic and tectonic geomorphological mapping can be difficult due to the complex regional structural setting, overprint of various tectonic phases, low levels of deformations, high level of erosion and the influence of both karstic and slope mass processes, High-resolution geophysical and tectono-geomorphological investigations will be conducted on at least three important active faults that are insufficiently seismotectonically characterized, belong to different tectonic regimes, exhibit low-levels of deformation and have a vastly different thickness and compostiton of overlying sediments. This presents a challenge for the optimization of survey planning, conducting field measurements and analysing the obtained data for different geological settings, which will require new methodological approaches and solutions. The end goal of geophysical investigations is the identification of possible deformations of Quaternary sediments, the evaluation of fault zone complexity and its location in the bedrock, and to evaluate the potential of candidate sites for future paleseismological investigations. These results will represent an assesment of individual geophysical method for further studies of active faults in a similar geological setting. The integration of multiple high-resolution geophysical methods will enable to recognize and discern the influence of deformation mechanisms on Quaternary sedimentation processes. The defined seismotectonic parameters (fault zone width, fault strike and dip, vertical and horizontal offsets, surface rupture recurrence, fault slip-rate and its variability along the fault) will contribute to the Database of Active Faults. This Database represents one of the key input data for the new iteration of the Seismic Hazard Model for Slovenia with the PSHA method, evaluation of maximum earthquake magnitude and its recurrence, and the evaluation of the probability of a surface rupture event.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span lang=\"en-SI\" dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Selected Bibliography:<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span lang=\"en-SI\" dir=\"ltr\">RUPAR, Lovro, GOSAR, Andrej.
