It deals with alpine cities which are more likely affected by climate change.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span lang=\"EN-US\" dir=\"ltr\">The aim of the MARGIN is to recognise the vulnerability and risk connected with the upcoming changes in groundwater and help to establish groundwater sustainability management in alpine cities. These cities face the impact of climate change which is connected with availability, quality of groundwater and health of groundwater - dependent ecosystem. The project offers city-tailored management for upcoming groundwater difficulties and creating the potential to replicate best practices in Alpine cities. It is necessary to develop effective adaptation measures to safeguard groundwater quality and quantity, essential for drinking water and ecosystem health.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span lang=\"EN-US\" dir=\"ltr\">Inside the project four pilot cities Milan, Ljubljana, Linz and Munich will be studied. With a Network of Observers MARGIN will improve city planning and policymaking. It will also empower cities to responsibly manage their groundwater resources and build resilience against environmental challenges.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span lang=\"EN\" dir=\"ltr\">Geological Survey of Slovenia is involved in preparation of strategic and planning documents for national and local authorities related to water and geothermal energy.
