{"id":73768,"date":"2025-04-07T14:29:47","date_gmt":"2025-04-07T13:29:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/geo-zs.si\/infrastructure\/vrsticni-elektronski-mikroskop-na-poljsko-emisijo-fe-sem-thermofisher-apreo-2s\/"},"modified":"2026-07-24T04:30:09","modified_gmt":"2026-07-24T03:30:09","slug":"vrsticni-elektronski-mikroskop-na-poljsko-emisijo-fe-sem-thermofisher-apreo-2s","status":"publish","type":"infrastructure","link":"https:\/\/www.geo-zs.si\/en\/infrastructure\/vrsticni-elektronski-mikroskop-na-poljsko-emisijo-fe-sem-thermofisher-apreo-2s\/","title":{"rendered":"Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope (FE-SEM) - ThermoFisher Apreo 2S"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"margin-left:0cm\"><span lang=\"SL\" dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Description of equipment<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:0cm\"><span lang=\"SL\" dir=\"ltr\">The ultra-high resolution fiber electron microscope (FE-SEM) allows the observation of the surface of materials at the sub-nanometre level.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:0cm\"><span lang=\"SL\" dir=\"ltr\">The SDD Energy Dispersive Spectrometer (EDS) with improved energy resolution allows the quantification of light elements and the determination of the composition of materials at the submicron level, as well as the separation between elements whose characteristic beam energies are very close to each other.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:0cm\"><span lang=\"SL\" dir=\"ltr\">Backscattered electron diffraction (EBSD) detects the diffraction of backscattered electrons (BSE) on the crystal planes of a sample and produces a diffraction pattern characteristic of the crystal structure and orientation of the sample, which provides information on mineral phases, crystal grain orientation, defects in the crystal grains, grain boundaries, and the homogeneity of the sample at the submicron level.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:0cm\"><span lang=\"SL\" dir=\"ltr\">Cathodoluminescence (CL) detects EM waves in the visible spectrum and forms an image of all the elements or features in a material that cause the emission of EM waves.
